Charities and Modern Philanthropy in USA 单车走天涯

In August I gonna do volunteer services in Yunnan Province, South-West China. We 14 volunteers will work two weeks in a small city. The volunteers are from USA, Hongkong, Tsinghua University, and Peking University. It’s so exciting to spend two weeks with them.

We will deliver a 2-week training package, which is well designed based on historical feedback and our creativity. The small city is Yongsheng. There is no train and flight to the city. We’ll go to Kunming and team up there first. Then we gonna take a bus for 8 hours. Yesterday I booked eleven flight tickets for those who depart from Beijing. We got the 80% off discount. The only problem is that we have to arrive batch by batch, in 2 days and by 4 planes. But, what a bargain! :)
Each summer vacation, there are dozens of volunteer teachers sent out by Tsinghua University. They travel to the West and teach local students during summer vacation. However, we work for a global student NGO, and have a different philosophy. Our principle is to to train teachers. We believe that can maximize the influence both in time and in scope. The training subjects include English, computer skills, and a little philosophy. A charity organization named World Vision will sponsor us in some ways. The local education bureau is also quite hospitable, since our organization has been training teachers for them in recent years. In any way, I believe that the journey will be valuable memories of life, not to mention that the volunteer service is in my must-do list before graduation. :)
